Aesthetic Movement Cabinet
1610
An ebonised pine cabinet in the style of EW Godwin. In his diaries, EW Godwin writes that his first experiments with ebonising furniture were on pine. He later used only mahogany which he considered more stable. Therefore this cabinet dates to c1868, early for The Aesthetic Movement and perhaps made by Eastlake's Art Furniture Company.
